Woman claimed bomb was on bus as police swarm Waltham Cross street

A woman claimed that a bomb was on a bus as police swarmed a street in Herts. Officers were called shortly before 11.30am this morning (Tuesday, May 3) to an incident at Waltham Cross bus station in Eleanor Cross Road.

A woman alleged that a bomb was on one of the buses. As a precaution, the vehicle was evacuated and a thorough search was conducted.

Nothing suspicious was found. The incident is now being treated as a hoax.

Police added that a woman, 31, from Enfield was arrested on suspicion of communication of false information and possession of cannabis. She remains in police custody at this time.

A Herts Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 11.21am this morning to an incident at Waltham Cross bus station in Eleanor Cross Road. A woman alleged that a bomb was on one of the buses and as a precaution, the vehicle was evacuated and a thorough search was conducted. Nothing suspicious was found and the incident is being treated as a hoax.”
