Ricky Gervais has teased fans of After Life as series three of the hit sitcom is set to begin soon.
The comedy-drama is created, written, produced and directed by Gervais who also stars as the main character Tony.
The writer of the Office, Extras and Derek shared a snap on social media of him holding up the new script with the caption “I’d better learn my lines”.
Filming is due to start from tomorrow (Monday, April 19).
The show has won fans from across the globe as it follows the life of Tony whose life is turned upside down after his wife, played by Kerry Godliman, dies from breast cancer.
Tony, who is a journalist at a free local newspaper, says and does whatever he wants and the show is adored for its powerful and relatable insight into dealing with grief, depression and suicidal thoughts.
It’s set in the fictional town of Tambury, with the newspaper’s offices filmed in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
The beautifully stunning Old Town provides the setting for the Tambury Gazette, which was threatened with closure before it was saved thanks to Tony’s efforts.
Series two ended on a cliff-hanger as care worker Emma, played by Extras star Ashley Jensen, visits Tony’s home after the pair had struck up somewhat of a liking towards each other.
The couple had seen each other virtually every day as Tony visited his dementia-suffering dad up until his sad death.
Other cast members include Letchworth’s Mandeep Dhillon, Game of Thrones’ Tony Way, Diane Morgan, Roisin Conaty, David Earl and Tom Basden, all of whom have appeared in Gervais’ numerous creations.
After Life was renewed for a third season back in May last year and it’s the first time a fictional series created by Gervais had been extended beyond two seasons.
It’s previously been filmed in various locations across England including Hemel Hempstead, Hampstead, Beaconsfield, and Camber Sands in East Sussex.
