Rapid testing centres set-up across Herts for key workers showing no symptoms

Rapid testing facilities have been made available to residents across Herts who are not showing coronavirus symptoms but can’t work at home.

Rapid tests – also known as lateral flow tests – are free tests for people who do not have any symptoms and can be processed within 45 minutes.

Research shows that around one in three people who have coronavirus don’t show symptoms.

The tests detect the vast majority of positive cases and is over 70 per cent accurate if you follow the simple instructions from on-site staff.

Hertfordshire County Council are prioritising key and essential workers aged 16 and over who don’t have any symptoms and cannot work from home.

Under 16s aren’t eligible for community rapid testing.

  • Health and social care, including voluntary and private sector
  • Education and childcare, including voluntary and private sector
  • Utilities (gas, water, electric etc) and communications, including refuse, highways and waste workers
  • Food and necessary goods
  • Transport
  • Key public services (for example, courts, emergency services, Job Centres, benefits and advice sectors)
  • Public safety and national security
  • National and local Government
  • Building and construction industry

Rapid testing is currently available in the following places, and the County Council recommends key and essential workers get tested twice a week.
