Herts towns and cities facing ‘postcode lottery’ without vaccine centre

Everyone is hoping for some good news in 2021 – with most clinging onto hopes for the Covid-19 vaccine.

There are concerns about how quickly both vaccines are rolled out and how effective they actually are so we can all finally get our lives back to normal.

However, analysis by the Sunday Times has revealed a shocking statistic that more than 100 constituencies in England don’t actually have a vaccine centre.

This means millions in England are facing a ‘postcode lottery’ for coronavirus jabs, reports The Mirror.

It comes as the Prime Minister Boris Johnson spoke this morning (January 3) on the BBC The Andrew Marr Show stating that within the next three months there is hope that tens of millions of people will have a vaccine as within that time frame, a third vaccine is predicted to get the green light.

Also, it came just 24 hours before the first doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca jab are to be rolled out.

In England, there are 118 constituencies without a Covid vaccine hub and three of them are here in Hertfordshire.

Hemel Hempstead, North East Hertfordshire and St Albans are all without a Covid-19 vaccine centre – meaning residents, if they get the vaccine, have to go somewhere else to get it.

697 vaccine centres have been set up so far in hospitals, GP practices and community buildings across England, including Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

Stevenage was one of the first areas to be confirmed to be having a vaccine hub – located at Robertson House in Gunnells Wood Road.
