One recent Hemel Hempstead Events include the fun Carters Steam Fair
Hemel Hempstead residents were excited to see the Carters Steam Fair, one of Hemel Hempstead events, arriving back at Boxmoor Common. It was full of its brightly decorated vintage vehicles and fairground rides.
The fair stayed in town for two weekends, September 4-5 and September 11-12 and it included a free firework display on both Saturdays.
Films such as Paddington 2 and Rocketman have featured the vintage fair. It offers a range of rides suitable for toddlers and anyone young at heart.
It also included their iconic set of beautifully restored British Galloper horses dating from the 1890s. Of course it wouldn’t be without the dodgems; recently featured in an art installation at Somerset House in London.
First time out for the Carters Team since 2019
The Carters team put a lot of thought in making sure the fair was a covid-secure experience as this is the first time since 2019 that it has been back on the road.
Around the fair there were hand sanitising stations, and the rides were cleaned and sanitised at regular intervals. In addition to this, to ensure social distancing the rides were spaced out.
Residents had a great time at the fair in Boxmoor.
The Mighty Mum Club took to Facebook and said: “Visiting Carters Steam Fair really is like going back in time. From beautifully hand painted vintage rides and vehicles to actual hand cranked carousel rides, just how they would have done things back in the day!
“There is a selection of rides for younger and older kids, as well as hook a duck, coconut shy and many more interactive games. There is a burger van, donuts, and ice cream carts, serving hot and cold drinks. All the staff are so lovely, and it was nice to see the older generation visiting too with their families!”
Many Thanks!
Another resident said: “I would really like to thank Carters Steam Fair for bringing so many families together last night for the free fireworks display. It was magical and a good show with lots of happy smiling children out in the fresh air having fun. Families doing family things and after being locked in and working hard through the pandemic I certainly enjoyed it.”
One more person added: “Looking around and seeing so many families out together was lovely. It’s been a long time since we’ve been out and allowed to enjoy our town altogether.”
