Filming in Hemel Hempstead’s Old Town – which has recently been the setting for Ricky Gervais’ After Life – was underway yesterday (Monday, September 6).

It’s based on Donald L. Miller’s book on the same name that followed the story of the Eight Air Force of the US Air Forces during the Second World War.

The series was first announced in 2013 before rights were sold to Apple TV in 2019. Production finally got under way in April.

Masters of the Air has also been filming in Oxford city centre, as well as Dalton Barracks in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.

Below are some snaps from Hemel as local residents cast a keen eye on what was going on.
