Every neighbourhood in Herts – from the most to the least infected with Covid-19

As the country entered lockdown last week Hertfordshire was also seeing coronavirus cases continuing to rise sharply in some areas.

While the county managed to stay in Tier 1 at the time, council leaders and experts warned that it was only a matter of time before further restrictions were necessary.

The circuit-breaker lockdown this month may prevent that straightaway, however the success of any new measures depends on how well the rate of infection is reduced.

As the Government aims to control the virus more data is becoming available on where local outbreaks are beginning, which can now be looked at right down to each neighbourhood.

Tell us what you think about the second lockdown in our survey below:

We have collated the data for each of Hertfordshire’s 154 Middle Layer Super Output Areas (MSOA), with the latest weekly data on cases and the rate of infection (100 cases per 100,000).

West Watford is the neighbourhood with the highest rate of infection with 321 cases per 100,000.

For neighbourhoods that include fewer than three cases the data has not been included by Public Health England to protect the privacy of those individuals.

This data is accurate up to November 3, with recent days not included as they are likely to change.

It’s hoped that Hertfordshire will be able to avoid Tier 2 restrictions – which would include a ban on households mixing – as a result of this month’s national lockdown.

The council have also confirmed that they are hoping to be part of a trial for new PCR tests which could lead to people tested on a much wider scale with immediate results.
