An adorable dog was recently found on a Herts street straying with a carabiner hook through it’s foot.
The dog, a young Leonberger type, was found straying on September 14.
He was collected by a dog warden and taken to a local vet after it was discovered the dog had a carabiner hook through his rear right foot which had caused an infection to his foot.
Vets removed it and the dog was given medication for the infection.
The incident was reported to the RSPCA and police and RSPCA Inspector Jack Taylor is investigating.
Efforts were made to find the owner including notices left in the area and door to door local enquiries.
Jack said: “I have carried out a number of enquiries in the area and left abandonment notices but no owner came forward as result.
“The dog, who is doing well despite his ordeal, has now been rehomed as it is now past the 14-day abandonment period.
“However I am still keen to speak to anyone who has any information as to why this dog was found with a carabiner clip through his foot and if they know who may have owned him – they can call me in confidence on the RSPCA Inspector appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
